Finally got around to watching Mortal Engines. Extremely cool world, really good casting, very bad direction. So many badly choreographed scenes. And quite a few scenes that added nothing, even detracted instead. I get why it did not resonate with people. But it has convinced me to give the first book a try.
Pitch Black into Chronicles of Riddick must be one of the greatest escalations of plot between two movies ever. From low stakes mild horror between Riddick and a small crew, to universe spanning techno death cult and a prophecy about Riddick being the chosen one. Brilliant movies for completely different reasons.
I really really enjoyed my week in Iceland. Beautiful capital, wonderful views, very nice food and very little sun.
Back in the olden days of the internet I used to follow a lot of webcomics. One of them was Superosity, which led me to find Marry Me. A nice webcomic unconventional love story.
This was adapted into a movie starring Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson.
I finally watched it yesterday after 2 years of it sitting around waiting.
It was fun! I did not appreciate some of the story changes, but I imagine they made more sense in a movie format than the original comic script.
Comic better though!
Gonna try AstroNvim for a bit, instead of NvChad. Why? No real reason, just wanna see what other sane defaults someone else sane decided was sane.
I made a Pixelfed account, just in case I want to share some photos in a more social mediay way.
Been using my own Home Assistant MPRIS bridge for the last week and a bit. It, uh, it has worked great! I am shocked. Happy. Personal project done (until I find a bug)! https://github.com/morosanmihail/homeassistant-mpris-bridge-rust
Alien: Romulus. Dumb, but in the wrong ways. I really did not enjoy it. So many weird choices and characters doing stupid things in stupid convoluted ways. Ah well.
Playing Svarog's Dream. Really enjoying the world and background lore! Feels nice to explore something creative and discover what's what.
Watched Alien vs Predator. Super dumb, very fun. Also dumb.
Home Assistant MPRIS bridge, written in Rust. It works! It's not complete yet, but is fine for general use. https://github.com/morosanmihail/homeassistant-mpris-bridge-rust
Possibly related to my previous post: I have no idea how MPRIS "position" is meant to work. It seems to work while my widget is on (time moves forward one second at a time), but, uh, kinda halts when I don't look at it?
Software is weird.
My new year's resolution is to get some of my personal projects actually progressing. I have already begun!
I really liked the Home Assistant MPRIS bridge someone made ( https://github.com/rytilahti/homeassistant-mpris-bridge ), and I decided to rewrite it in Rust. Because everything must be written in Rust.
So I made some progress already yesterday and today! Will share the repo a bit later.
It's not at feature parity yet, but will be. With some extras of my own.
Went to Romania for Christmas and spent a day in Bucharest. Did not expect to like the Christmas Market there as much as I did. Big, varied, clean, well organised. Definitely a top 5 Christmas Market I've been to of all times.

Really enjoying The Stormlight Archive. Currently on the second book. It's really hard to let go of listening whenever I start.
Finished Expeditions: Rome yesterday. Got a bittersweet ending, but I did really enjoy it overall.
Great voice acting, interesting characters, overall cool premise and plot.
