Interesting! On my Pixel 4 (Adreno GPU) sampling two band Spherical Harmonics from 3D textures appears to be twice as fast as looking them up from a storage buffer and blending manually!
On my Pixel 8 (Mali GPU) it's only slightly faster, but still looks like a win all around!
My youngest son has recently been begging to watch Jurassic Park, so I watched it with him this weekend. It was an interesting experience to see it both through his eyes and reflect on the movie itself and how much cinema has changed since I first watched it in a theater at his age.
He already knew a lot about the movie from pop-culture and especially the Lego Jurassic World game, which gives a pretty thorough scene-by-scene walkthrough of the plot with Lego silliness smoothing over scary bits.
I find that the "Boundary Break" series is fun, though they sometimes obsess over weirdly minor stuff. This new episode on Hollow Knight is worth it just to see the layering techniques used by the game. Beautiful stuff! https://youtu.be/_WrB8sf7v_8
I'm a large individual. There are many things in life not designed to fit a person my size. That's OK!
But there are few things that make me feel more like a misproportioned freak than Mens Robes. Why are the belt loops always closer to my nipples than my waist?!? Even the "big and tall" ones. Is this just me?
WebXR update: As of Chrome 135 the non-spec-compliant navigator.xr.supportsSession() method will be removed. Use navigator.xr.isSessionSupported() instead.
The old method has *ONLY* been marked as deprecated for the last 5+ years so I'm not sure we've given y'all enough time to migrate off of it. 😉
Just had a conversation with a family member who got upset when I suggested they might find therapy to be useful (not derogatorily, I go myself), after which they immediately started listening to "World's Smallest Violin" by AJR without the slightest hint of irony.
