So... I just played this on speaker on a train and it was hilarious to see who started looking like they were experiencing PTSD on hearing this... 🤣😝
Chinese censorship at its best, even on Discord LOL. This is an excerpt of the rules of a Discord server of a Chinese company.
"Do not mention national leaders or related words".
Does saying "Winnie-the-Pooh" count? 🤣😝
@edelsuesz Loving the black and white render of the sky and the contrast too!!!
I love good music when I hear it, and this is an amazing rendition of "You'll Never Walk Alone" from the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical Carousel.
I'm not a Mormon, but I would absolutely love to go to Salt Lake City to see this choir in action!!!
@Doriverte Brill thanks. Let me have a look at all the patch notes since my version to see what I'm getting etc.
@Doriverte By the way, can I check which version of Capture One you're currently using?
@Billthoo Hahaha yeah, I totally get why you'd get suckered in with that. I did too until I just started doing lots more offline because I started travelling more and more.
Planes have WiFi, but it's no way quick enough to sync Lightroom hahaha.
@Doriverte Ahhh. I'll see about the latest version of Capture One soon. But at the moment, very happy with the new Photolab 8.
@Doriverte Ahhh I forgot about Capture One. I have an older version and didn't upgrade it. Wonder how that performs now - must see if I can find a free trial of the latest version!
@Doriverte I did think about going with PureRaw as an addition to Lightroom but then decided to go with Photolab as I wanted an all in one solution to replace Lightroom completely.
@Judeau /> Although I wonder if I simply showed you the DXO version with nothing to compare it to, would it be "good enough"?
Also, I want to thank you for your kind words!!! I'm glad you like my photography. This Milky Way shot took me over 3 months to plan!!! If you're interested in my planning process, I've tried to pen down as much as I could here.

@Judeau Yeah I totally know what you mean about the Adobe version has a lot more detail. I think that's just the nature of using denoise algorithms on stars - some of them can be treated as part of the noise. Also partly why I think the Adobe version seems to show more stars because it's noisier. The Adobe denoise algorithm started showing weird artifacts if I increased it further. But DXO cleaned up a bit better - but as you say at the expense of some of the stars.

@tidestakemeaway I heard that people in the EU got the same "opt-out" message and some even had their requests refused. Not entirely sure how they choose when to / not to honour someone's request to opt-out.
@tidestakemeaway Oh is this still going around? Are they still doing this? I was lucky enough to have them decide to "honour" my opt-out request.
But seriously, they f**king suck. Generative AI devs f**king sucks!
... I mean there are of course limits when you're shooting at ISO 25000, but I think DXO Photolab 8 cleaned up much better than Adobe Lightroom's edit.
@Billthoo I actually think it does better than Adobe... not to mention no bloody subscription model!!!
@Billthoo What's really hilarious is that because of random marks / gunk through normal train use on the windows, I started shooting with f/1.7 (the widest aperture on the Leica Q3) thinking I at least have like 1/4000 shutter speed, forgetting it was an electronic shutter... this is what those famous utility poles looked like as I was testing what settings I could get away with LOL.
@Billthoo Here's a post that I think you might be interested in if you hate Adobe's subscription model as much as I do!!! LOL.
What do you think?
First shot edited with the new DXO Photolab 8, second shot was my previous edit with Adobe Lightroom Classic.
In case anyone in the #photography community is looking for Adobe Lightroom alternatives (because screw Adobe and subscription!), I am enjoying DXO Photolab 8 so far.
I had issues with version 7's denoise - it would give random artifacts when denoising sky and star shots - but I decided to try and reprocess my shot of the Milky Way from a plane and wow, I'm impressed by Photolab 8!
Let me know what you guys think!!!
