I love visiting the new building for Metro High School. It looks much more like Hogwarts than the old building. It's beautiful on the inside too thanks to the renovation!
Happy Valentines day! Here is a tutorial on making mathematical flowers using polar coordinates. Enjoy! #iteachmath @edutooters

New video coming soon! We got a tour of the radiation oncology training facility at Ohio State University with Prof. Ashley Cetnar who is a medical physicist. Physics saves lives! Check it out at this link on sunday: https://youtu.be/Lf16ZX0JCtQ #iteachphysics @edutooters
I got to see my friends today from Cleveland State U at the Ohio CS summit! I have so much respect for the work they do with teachers! #CSTAOhio
We are excited to participate in the Ohio Computer Science Summit on February 12 in Columbus, Ohio as a part of #OETC25 We'll be presenting at 9:15am in a talk "Greatest Hits from the STEMcoding Project". Big thanks to Ohio #CSTA for making this happen! #CSforAll
Celebrate Black History month with our Project Mercury tutorial which explains some of the calculations that Katherine Johnson made for NASA. #iteachphysics #iteachmath #CS4ALL #CSEd @edutooters

We are lucky in Central Ohio to have our own game jam. I went to the closing ceremony this weekend to check it out! #CSed #CSforAll https://thecogg.com/ggj
In a random act of kindness the blogging service @chicksgold translated the instructions for our activity "Escape Velocity / Newtonian Black Holes" into Spanish! We are very grateful for their efforts! Here is the translated page:

Co-founder of the STEMcoding project, Prof. Chris Orban was interviewed on the Learning Unboxed podcast about his contributions to the Ohio High School Math Pathways project. #iteachmath Check it out here: https://www.pastfoundation.org/learning-unboxed
The Ohio K12 computer science summit will be on February 12th in Columbus, Ohio as part of #OETC25 If you're coming, don't miss our presentation: "Greatest Hits from the STEMcoding Project" at 9:15am. https://oetc.ohio.gov/attend-oetc #CSforAll #CSTA
Does anyone know of or have experience with programs for youth where they take apart old electronics (a.k.a. e-waste)? There used to be something like this in Columbus, Ohio but it disbanded about 10 years ago. #CSforAll
Fun fact: We have a discord channel where you can chat with us and with teachers using the activities we developed! Here is a link to join: https://discord.gg/bsWgqcqwCE

In 2024, we bought a used framework laptop, which is designed to be ultra-repairable and ultra-upgradeable and which works particularly well with #linux It's worked great! Maybe some day we can upgrade the CPU to use an intel chip made at the new factory in Ohio!
Content warning: this post discusses linux. In 2024, Chris switched to Debian, which is run by a nonprofit instead of for profit (Ubuntu). KDE worked better than GNOME on Debian 12. Flatpaks were a pain. Wayland was a headache for screen sharing. #Linux is still beautiful chaos.
The STEMcoding project is a partnership between Ohio State and the University of Mount Union, but we also have a non-profit. Chris Orban and Richelle Teeling-Smith started it in 2020 and it provides science and math teachers with tools to connect their subjects to CS and data science. #CSforALL
Our new year's resolution is to record more videos for the STEMcoding Object Tracker!
